Tennis is back! Are you ready?
Thank you for the loyal and continuing support Glenburn Tennis Club has received from members over the last twelve months. It’s been amazing to work together through the issues thrown at us and lovely to see the club pull through in great shape. You might think the club hasn’t changed much, but many exciting things have happened. Glenburn now has the largest ever cohort of juniors coming through and the most ever number of teams in the WDTA.
With the continued escalation of social isolation measures in Victoria related to Covid-19 pandemic, Tennis Victoria is recommending that as soon as is practically possible for every club or coaching business to temporarily close all tennis clubs and centres.
Stay tuned for more improvements to our Club after the lockdown. The electronic card access and security camera installation are underway!
As part of Tennis Victoria’s Melbourne Tennis Month campaign, we had an open day with free coaching by Lewis and team, fun tennis activities, raffle tickets, and sausage sizzles by no other than our Club President and Committee Members.
Also, next season we will have 32 junior teams! Fantastic participation and very exciting to have teams from 8 years old all the way to the highest A1 grading on Saturday and Sunday competitions.
Thank you all for your continued support of the Glenburn Tennis Club during these unprecedented times! We hope to see a gradual easing of restrictions so that we can all get back to tennis. In the meantime, please stay safe.
For the first time ever, the club AGM will be held via Zoom meeting on 25 October 2020.
We also have good news on the court lighting replacement. Refer to the newsletter for details.
Winners are Grinners
In a dominant and convincing display of top class tennis our grade 1 Pennant team never gave the opposition a look in. Over 3 weeks of high-pressure finals they dropped only the 1 Rubber in the grand final.
Congratulations to Sam Dowler, Nick Jovanoski, Jarryd Savage, Lewis Miles, Adam Hannapel, Jack Thiessen, Michael Turleski, and Stephen Kaldawi.
