Coaching Program

Lewis Miles is the Resident Club Professional. Lewis has an enthusiastic and nurturing approach to coaching and has a program that caters to all age-groups. He is an accredited Tennis Australia Club Professional Coach, Hot Shots Deliverer, and has a degree in Exercise & Sport Science. He works with a coaching team that all play competition at Glenburn and with the team, is planning to help produce many competent tennis players over the coming years.

Qualifications, Achievements, and Experiences

  • Qualified as a Master Club Professional

  • Bachelor of Exercise Science and Human Movement 

  • Winner of the 2016 TCAV Victorian Coach of the year

  • Former Professionally ranked player

  • Current Victorian Premier League player

 

Lewis is a passionate coach with a great connection with his students and their families. After being the Head Coach at Glenburn for ten years, Lewis has helped grow hundreds of tennis players of all ages and abilities. 

He is caring, with a very direct teaching style and great communication skills. 

Lewis has a detailed knowledge of the technical aspects of tennis and of physical education and can personally tailor the needs of many different types of players.

The Coaching TeaM

At Glenburn, we have a passionate coaching team led by Lewis. The team is full of qualified and dedicated coaches with many years of professional experience.

Lewis and the Glenburn team are dedicated to their lessons and sharing their knowledge and enthusiasm. Lessons are available all year round and are designed for all levels from beginner all the way to high-level competition players.

At Glenburn, we offer lessons for all ages and standards, from the age of 4 your child is ready to start!

If your child is older, even a teenager, starting a new sport can sometimes be a daunting experience, however, we will make sure your experience is fun and help you to make great progress, we are a club of all different playing standards and backgrounds.

 

It’s best to contact our Head Coach Lewis for advice on which type of lesson is the best fit for you to start.

Taking a Free Trial lesson is a great way to start and you’ll receive plenty of support when getting started.

Group lessons

(4 students per coach) all technical aspects are taught and Group lessons are an engaging way to learn with others of a similar level.

Private lessons

Great for extra individual help and planning, we also offer semi-private lessons where you can share the private lesson with someone else.

Hitting sessions

Great way to practice with a professional level player, the rhythm and energy of a hitting session will help support your game and learning.

Group Lessons

Group lessons are split into the following categories:

 

HOT SHOTS PROGRAM : ages 4-10 and is split into different levels

  1. Red Ball: ages 4-6

  2. Orange Ball: ages 6-9

  3. Green Ball: ages 9-11

 

This program uses fun modified equipment, including smaller racquets, softer balls, and smaller courts, this is a great way for kids to achieve success earlier. 

These lessons are all run at the same time on different courts and are available on weekdays. Free racquet hire for all kids!

Monday - Friday 4:00 pm - 4:45 pm

DEVELOPMENT GROUPS : Ages 10-12, Suitable for all levels within this age group

Monday - Friday 4:45 pm - 5:45 pm

 

SQUAD GROUPS : High School age, suitable for all levels

Monday - Friday 5:45 pm - 6:45 pm

ADVANCED SQUADS : High School Age, designed for kids playing in High-Level competition

Monday - Friday 6:45 pm - 7:45 pm

 

The above ages are a starting guide, however, ages can vary based on ability and need.

 

ADULTS CLASSES

We also offer Adults group classes and private lessons Monday-Friday, suitable also for beginners, a great chance to learn, exercise, and eventually meet other people to practice with. We are a family-based club, if your kids are learning tennis then why not make it a family sport!

Glenburn High-Performance Tennis 

 

Throughout the last ten years, Glenburn has participated in the highest level of competition in Victoria and Australia.

Like many sporting clubs, one of our goals has been to be represented at the highest level. 

Our results are as follows:

  • 2018 Premier League Community Club Award

 

  • 2019 Victorian Grade One Pennant champions

  • 2014 Victorian Grade One Pennant Champions

  • 2016 and 2017 Victorian Grade One Runners/Up

 

  • 2020 Waverley Region Senior Challenge Cup Winners

  • 2019 Waverley Region Junior A1 winners 

  • 2018 Waverley Region Junior A1 Winners

 

Several of our players have been ranked in the Top-100 in Australia and have been coaches and training partners to many of our junior players at the club. 

The club has a High-Performance training squad led by our coach Lewis Miles,

 

Regular games within the season are played Saturdays at 1:00 pm with free access to spectators.
