Junior Competition Tennis
How does it work?
Entering the junior Saturday/Sunday morning competition –
For NEW PLAYERS entering competition tennis at Glenburn
Players are assessed by the coach or junior convenor to determine if the individual is ready to participate in junior competition and which grade is appropriate for them.
For players with competition experience
Please provide the Junior Convenor with the Association, Club and Grade played previously. Junior players may need to be assessed for correct grading.
1. Complete the entry form
2. Complete a membership application. All players MUST be members of Glenburn Tennis Club.
3. Return both forms to the Club’s visitors box with full payment
Teams for the upcoming season are listed on the club notice board after the completion of the Grand finals of the current season.
Players will be notified where and when they will play, and if their parents are to transport, the week before competition starts. Start dates on the entry form.
Roster sheets are available for collection the first Saturday/Sunday morning of competition. Suggested rosters are prepared to assist parents with when players are available and to suggest transport dates.
Start times for competition:
Saturday
For AWAY matches players are to meet at the club at 7.30am, and arrive at the away venue no later than 7.55am, match play begins at 8am. For HOME matches be at the club by 7.55am, ready to play at 8am. Play finishes at 12.15pm. (Only the game in progress at this time is to be completed.)

Parents are required to transport the team during the season. There are 7 home and 7 away matches for each team. Parents transporting children are required by Waverley Tennis and Glenburn Tennis Club to stay with the team for the entire morning session at the away venue. This duty of care must be carried out for the safety of all players, until they are returned to the Club.
Appropriate TENNIS clothing must be worn-
At Glenburn Tennis Club we recommend your child take a drink, a snack as well as their own personal sun protection to tennis. Labelling clothing could also help in retrieval of lost items.

Appropriate TENNIS clothing must be worn-
- No football, basketball, or other specific ‘code’ related clothing is permitted.
- Shoes with ripple soles or black soled shoes are not suitable for many surfaces. Clubs may ask you change your shoes. Dunlop Volleys are suitable for all surfaces and are very good value shoes.
At Glenburn Tennis Club we recommend your child take a drink, a snack as well as their own personal sun protection to tennis. Labelling clothing could also help in retrieval of lost items.
